Apa itu question tag?
Question tag merupakan pernyataan positif atau negatif yang diakhiri dengan pertanyaan pendek yang digunakan untuk mendapatkan persetujuan (agreement) terhadap benar atau tidaknya suatu pertanyaan. Pada prinsipnya question tag dibentuk dengan menambahkan “tag” negatif apabila pernyataannya berbentuk positif, dan “tag” positif apabila pernyataannya berbentuk negative.
Untuk lebih memahami penjelasan diatas mari lihat penjelasan dan contoh dibawah ini.
Ø Positive Statement (Pernyataan Positif), Question Tag Negatif.
Kalimat Positif = S + Aux. Verb / Verb
QT Negatif = Aux. Verb + Not + Pronoun?
ü Pronoun yang digunakan dalam question tag adalah he, she, it, they, we, I, you, dan there, bergantung pada subyek kalimatnya.
ü Apabila pernyataan (statement) menggunakan to be present “is/are/am” maka Auxiliary Verb (kata kerja bantu) dalam QT memakai “isn’t/aren’t”. Apabila pernyataan (statement) menggunakan to be past “was/were” maka Auxiliary Verb memakai “wasn’t/weren’t”.
Contoh :
· His father is busy now, isn’t he?
· His mother is still sick, isn’t she?
· Youare ready for the test, aren’t you?
· The dogs are very fierce, aren’t they?
· Iam late, aren’t I?
· The house was bought last year, wasn’t it?
ü Apabila pernyataan (statement) menggunakan verb 1/verb 2.
Contoh :
Verb 1
· His father works in a hotel, doesn’t he?
· The girls live here, don’t they?
Verb 2
· Youcalled her last night, didn’t you?
ü Apabila pernyataan menggunaka modal, maka Auxiliary Verb QT menggunakan “modal + not”.
Contoh :
· You and I must come there soon, mustn’t we?
ü Apabila menggunakan “has/ have/had/ + been/verb 3”.
Contoh :
· Theyhave ever been there before, haven’t they?
Ø Negative Statement (Pernyataan Negatif), Question Tag Positif
Kalimat Negatif = S + Aux. verb + Not
QT Negatif = Aux. verb + Pronoun?
Contoh :
His uncle is not at home now, is he?
Mr. Harunwill not give us a test tomorrow, will he?
